Profile of Inspector General of Police Rudi Darmoko and his career history in the police


JAKARTA (Antara)-Lately, the figure of Inspector General of Police Rudi Darmoko has been the subject of discussion in the public, especially after his name is crowded as a candidate for the National Police Chief.

At present, he is carrying out his duties as the Head of the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police (Kapolda NTT), in accordance with the contents of the National Police Chief Telegram letter with ST/1084/V/KEP/2025.

Besides Rudi Darmoko, the name of the Komjen Pol Rudi Heriyanto was also widely referred to as a strong competitor in the National Police Chief Candidate Exchange. However, Inspector General Rudi chose to respond to the issue casually and reluctant to respond too much. He stated that he prefers to focus on the mandate that is currently being carried out.

Profile of Inspector General Darmoko

Inspector General of Police Rudi Darmoko was born in Jakarta on December 7, 1971. He came from a military family, his father, Lieutenant Colonel Inf (Ret.) Jumadi, was a retired TNI officer who had been a coach of President Prabowo Subianto while still serving in the Special Forces Command (Kopassus).

Rudi completed his education at the Police Academy (Akpol) and graduated as part of the 1993 class. Not only graduated, he also held the title of the best graduate by receiving the Adhi Makayasa award, the highest respect given to the best graduate officers from each TNI and Polri dimension.

His education journey in the police is quite complete. He continued to the Police Sciences College (PTIK) until 2002, attended education at the Sespim Lemdiklat Polri in 2008, and completed the highest levels at the Staff School and High Leaders (Sespimti) Lemdiklat Polri in 2016.

During his career, the high-ranking officer of the Inspector General has received a number of academic and professional achievements. He received various prestigious awards, such as Adhi Makayasa (1993), Bintang Bhayangkara Pratama (2023), and the Medal of Merit from the Government of Timor Leste in 2025.

Bintang Bhayangkara Pratama award itself was given as a form of appreciation for its dedication and loyalty to the National Police institution, which was pinned directly by the National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

Outside his achievements, Rudi is known as a humble person and easy to get along. His leadership style which prioritizes personal and communicative approaches makes him respected by many of his colleagues and members.

Before being trusted to lead the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police, Inspector General of Police Rudi Darmoko first served as Principal of Staff and Leadership (Kasespim) under the National Police Education and Training Institute (Lemdiklat).

The strategic position was previously filled by Komjen Pol Chryshnanda Dwilaksana. Rudi began to occupy that position in November 2024, marking the trust of the National Police leadership in the track record and leadership capacity.

And now, his name is re -emerged to the surface as one of the figures that are considered worthy of occupying the highest position in the Indonesian National Police institution.
