These are 3 points of Indonesia and Türkiye’s strategic cooperation
JAKARTA (Antara) – Bilateral relations between Indonesia and Türkiye again show significant reinforcement.
During a state visit to Ankara, President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto was officially welcomed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Turkish Presidential Palace, Thursday (10/04/2025).
This visit is not just a symbol of diplomacy, but a concrete step to expand cooperation between two friendly countries. In a joint press statement after a bilateral meeting, President Prabowo said that talks with President Erdoğan took place warmly and enthusiastically. “We discuss many important things, ranging from defense, economic, to education. Türkiye is a strategic partner for Indonesia,” he said.
The meeting resulted in the signing of three important documents that reflect the strong commitment of the two countries in strengthening collaboration in various sectors, ranging from disaster management to cultural diplomacy. These are the three strategic cooperation that successfully established:

1. Disaster and Emergency Management Cooperation
Through a memorandum of understanding between the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) of the Republic of Indonesia and the Disaster Management and Emergency Agency of the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, the two countries agreed to share knowledge, experience, and strengthen the capacity in dealing with natural disasters and emergency situations. This collaboration is considered important considering the two countries are equally vulnerable to various types of disasters.
2. Communication and media cooperation
The Indonesian Presidential Communication Office also established an understanding with the Directorate of Communication of the President of the Republic of Türkiye. The main focus includes public relations, exchange of information, and cooperation between cross -country media. This step is expected to be able to strengthen public diplomacy and create positive perceptions between the people of the two countries.
3. Cooperation in the field of culture
Through approval in the field of culture, Indonesia and Türkiye agreed to expand the exchange of arts, traditions, and cultural values. This collaboration opens a wider space for joint cultural activities that can strengthen relations between communities, while strengthening national identity in the international arena.
This strategic cooperation becomes an important foundation in Indonesia-Turki relations going forward, as well as opening up the opportunities for tangible collaboration that is mutually beneficial in various sectors. President Erdoğan also conveyed the commitment of his government to continue to improve relations in all international frameworks such as the United Nations, G20, D8, and Mikta. Türkiye also appreciates Indonesia’s position of the Palestinian issue.
