Major Teddy is promoted! This is the duty and role of Lieutenant Colonel


JAKARTA (Antara) – In the military world, rank has an important role in showing the level of leadership and responsibility of one’s. One of the well known rank is Lieutenant Colonel (Lieutenant Colonel) who is often carried by middle officers in various armed forces.

As recently the name Major Teddy Indra Wijaya is becoming a public conversation because he is promoted from the major to Lieutenant Colonel (Lieutenant Colonel). In accordance with the decision given by the Commander General of the TNI Agus Subiyanto who raised the rank of the Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) on Thursday (6/3) in the Sprin/674/II/2025 warrant.

This has been confirmed by the Head of the Army Information Office (AD), namely Brigadier General Wahyu Yudhayana that “I convey to the media partners, that the information is indeed correct and that is in accordance with the provisions in force in the TNI and the Basis of Legislation (Perpres), administratively all have been fulfilled” he said.

Get to know Lieutenant Colonel (Lieutenant Colonel)

Lieutenant Colonel (Lieutenant Colonel) is one of the ranks in the ranks of middle officers in the Indonesian military environment. This rank is marked by two gold jasmine on the shoulder as a symbol of a person’s rank level.

The rank structure in the Indonesian National Army (TNI) has been regulated in the Government Regulation (PP) of the Republic of Indonesia Number 39 of 2010 concerning the Administration of TNI Soldiers.

Before it was called Lieutenant Colonel, during the Dutch East Indies colonial era this rank was known as overste in the milite systemR Koninklijk Nederlands Indisch Leger (KNIL).

Despite the change in name, this rank position in the military hierarchy remains the same. Lieutenant Colonel is in the middle -ranking level of the second place, higher than the major (May) but is still under the Colonel (Kol).

In the Indonesian National Police Structure (Polri), the rank of Lieutenant Colonel has equality with the Adjunct Senior Commissioner of the Police (AKBP).

Every individual who occupies a certain position in the military world has full responsibility in His leadership. A Lieutenant Colonel (Lieutenant Colonel) bears a big task, both in the administrative and military operations.

To achieve the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, a long process includes basic education, experience in various operational assignments, and further leadership training. After holding this rank, the responsibilities carried out are even greater, especially in strategic roles such as being a Battalion commander or chief of staff in a larger unit.

In addition, a Lieutenant Colonel also played a role in decision making quickly and precisely in designing military strategies and tactics. His ability to deal with complex situations will determine the success of a military operation.
