JAKARTA (Antara) – The Constitutional Court (MK) has just issued a decision regarding the disqualification of Pesawaran Regent candidate number 1, Aries Sandi Darma Putra. The Constitutional Court stated that Aries did not meet the requirements related to high school diplomas or equivalent in his nomination in the election of the Regent and Deputy Regent of Pesawaran 2024.

Based on the Constitutional Court’s decision, Aries is believed to have never completed a 3rd grade high school education, both in Arjuna High School and other level schools. Therefore, the Constitutional Court ordered the Pesawaran Regency General Election Commission (KPU) to hold a re -voting (PSU) without Aries’s participation.

Aries Sandi Darma Putra was born in Bandar Lampung on April 7, 1976. He is the son of Abdurachman Sarbini, or known as Mance, a former Regent of Tulang Bawang for two periods (2002-2007 and 2007-2012).

Following in the footsteps of his father in the political world, Aries had served as Regent of Pesawaran in the 2010-2015 period. In the 2024 elections, he returned to run with the support of several major parties, including the Golkar, Democrats and PPP parties.

Based on information from lezen.id, Aries has a pretty good educational history. He conducted basic education at SDN Teladan Bandar Lampung (1982-1988), continuing to Arjuna Bandar Lampung Middle School (1988-1991), and then attended the Bandar Lampung State High School (1991-1995).

In the hearing held on February 24, 2025, Chief Justice Suhartoyo stressed that Aries was disqualified from the participation of the Pesawaran Election 2024. With this decision, the Pesawaran KPU was ordered to hold a Voting (PSU) by continuing to use the Permanent Voter List (DPT), the transfer voter list , and additional voter list.
