With the Depok Regional Election votes, PKS’s dominance collapses?

Jakarta (ANTARA) – In the Depok regional head general election (Pilkada), the dominance of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) is threatened with collapse after the General Election Commission (KPU) determined the Vote Results for the candidate pair for Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Depok serial number 02 Supian Suri and Chandra Rahmansyah won in the Depok regional elections, Monday (2/12) evening.

Quoted from the YouTube account @kpukotadepok, Supian and Chandra received 451,785 votes and candidate pair for Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Depok serial number 01 Imam Budi Hartono and Ririn A Rafiq 396,863 votes.

The valid vote acquisition of the regional head candidate pair supported by the PKS coalition and the Golkar Party in Depok, Imam and Ririn, lagged behind the valid vote acquisition of the regional head candidate pair numbered 02 Supian and Chandra.

Supian Suri and Chandra are supported by 12 political parties that are members of the Depok Maju Change Coalition, including the National Democratic Party (NasDem), National Mandate Party (PAN), National Awakening Party (PKB), Greater Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), Unity Party Development (PPP), Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI), Democratic Party, Indonesian Unity Party (Perindo), Labor Party, Indonesian People’s Wave Party (Gelora), Ummat Party, and Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI).

If there is no lawsuit before the Constitutional Court (MK), Supian Suri will be appointed Mayor of Depok for the 2025-2030 period and Chandra Rahmansyah will be appointed Deputy Mayor of Depok for the 2025-2030 period on February 10 2025.

This decision was taken after the Open Plenary Meeting of Counting Results of the 2024 Regional Election Vote Recapitulation Recapitulation at the Depok City level.

The implementation of the recapitulation includes data on the number of voters, use of the right to vote, and valid votes from each sub-district, witnessed by witnesses from the mayoral and deputy mayoral candidates and the General Election Supervisory Agency.

The number of voters in Depok City reached 881,012 in the Regional Head Election which was held simultaneously on November 27 2024. A total of 848,648 of them cast votes that were declared valid and the remaining 32,364 cast invalid votes. Meanwhile, the number of abstentions reached around 500,000 votes.

This is reported from the minutes document and certificate of recapitulation of the vote count results for the 2024 Depok Mayor and Deputy Mayor Election which was signed by the Chairman of the Depok City KPU Willi Sumarlin and uploaded to the Depok Pilkada Pilkada Pilwalkot Sirekap on the kpu.go.id page with letter number 1051/PL .02.6-Pu/3276/2024.

The city of Depok has been a support base for PKS for a long period of time. Because the candidate pairs for mayor and deputy mayor supported by PKS in Depok have almost always dominated regional head elections for the past 20 years.

Most recently, Mohammad Idris achieved the highest reins of power in Depok after being promoted by PKS in the 2015 Depok Regional Election. Idris himself is from non-party circles.

But now the PKS cadre himself, Imam Budi Hartono (Chair of the Prosperous Justice Party Regional Leadership Council for Depok City for the 2020 to 2025 period, member of the West Java Provincial DPRD for the 2019-2020 period and Deputy Mayor of Depok for 2020-2025) has failed to continue the trend of his party’s dominance.

Imam and Ririn only managed to win in four sub-districts in Depok City, but lost in seven other sub-districts which held direct and simultaneous regional elections on 27 November.
