Profile of TNI Commander Agus Subiyanto and his military career
Jakarta (ANTARA) – General Agus Subiyanto, who previously served as Army Chief of Staff (KSAD), now officially holds the position of TNI Commander after being inaugurated by the 7th President of Indonesia Joko Widodo on November 22 2023, at the State Palace, Central Jakarta .
This inauguration is based on Presidential Decree Number 102 TNI of 2023 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of the TNI Commander, which was read by the President’s Military Secretary, Rear Admiral Hersan. During the inauguration procession, Agus Subiyanto took part in the oath of office which was guided directly by President Joko Widodo.
TNI General Agus Subiyanto is a son from Cimahi, West Java, who has pursued a military career since graduating from the Military Academy in 1991.

After graduating from the Military Academy and choosing the Kopassus Infantry branch, Agus Subiyanto began his military career as Head of Operations for Sector A in East Timor. After serving in the area, he returned to headquarters and continued his duties as Commander of Battalion 22 Group 2 Kopassus and Head of Information for Kopassus.
Agus’ career in the military world continues to show significant progress. He was given the responsibility to fill a number of strategic positions, including being Commander of Kodim (Dandim) 0735/Surakarta in the 2009–2011 period. Interestingly, during that period, Agus often interacted with Joko Widodo, who at that time served as Mayor of Solo.
After that, he served as Deputy Operations Assistant for Division 2 Kostrad in 2011, followed by the position of Operations Assistant for Kasdam I/Bukit Barisan in 2014. It didn’t stop there, in 2017 Agus was trusted to become Commander of the Main Regiment of Kodam II/Sriwijaya, which further strengthened his reputation. as one of the best TNI officers.

2017 was another important moment when Agus was appointed Commander of Korem 132/Tadulako. After that, in 2019, he was entrusted with the position of Deputy Commander of the Infantry Weapons Center (Wadanpussenif) of the TNI AD Kodiklat.
In 2020, his career became even brighter when he was appointed Commander of the Presidential Security Forces (Danpaspampres). This position made him interact closely with President Joko Widodo again, as when he served as Dandim Surakarta.
After two years leading Paspampres, Agus continued to move forward in his career, he was trusted to occupy a strategic position as Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Deputy KSAD).
It didn’t take long, less than two years later, that he again gained great trust by being promoted to Chief of Army Staff (KSAD). This position confirms his position as one of the highest ranking officers in the Indonesian Army, complete with the rank of four-star General.
After going through a long journey with various experiences and great responsibilities, TNI General Agus Subiyanto now carries the highest mandate as TNI Commander.
This position not only reflects his extraordinary career achievements, but also his dedication to continuing to safeguard Indonesia’s sovereignty and security.
