With the Depok Pilkada votes, PKS’ dominance is in danger of ending

Jakarta (ANTARA) – PKS’s dominance in the Depok Regional Election is in danger of ending after the publication of the minutes and certificate of recapitulation of the vote count results for the 2024 Depok Mayor and Deputy Mayor Election which was prepared based on the Model D form.

The recapitulation includes voter data, use of voting rights, and valid votes from each sub-district, witnessed by witnesses from mayoral and deputy mayoral candidates and officers from the General Election Supervisory Agency.

Based on the recapitulation results on the KPU website, the valid votes for the pair of regional head candidates supported by the coalition of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) and the Golkar Party in Depok, Imam Budi Hartono and Ririn A Rafiq collected 396,863 votes.

The valid vote acquisition of the regional head candidate pair supported by the PKS and Golkar coalition in Depok is lagging behind the valid vote acquisition of the regional head candidate pair number 02 Supian Suri and Chandra Rahmansyah.

Supian Suri and Chandra Rahmansyah are supported by 12 political parties, including the National Democratic Party (NasDem), National Mandate Party (PAN), National Awakening Party (PKS), Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), United Development Party (PPP), Party Indonesian Democracy (PDI) Struggle, Democratic Party, Indonesian Unity Party (Perindo), Labor Party, Indonesian People’s Wave Party (Gelora), Ummat Party, and Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI).

The results of the pair of candidates for mayor and deputy mayor, Supian Suri and Chandra Rahmansyah, who were promoted by the Depok Maju Change Coalition, were 451,785 votes.

If there is no lawsuit before the Constitutional Court (MK), Supian Suri will be appointed Mayor of Depok for the 2025-2030 period and Chandra Rahmansyah will be appointed Deputy Mayor of Depok for the 2025-2030 period on February 10 2025.

This decision was taken after the Open Plenary Meeting to Count the 2024 Regional Election Vote Results on Monday (2/12) evening.

The number of voters in Depok City reached 881,012 in the Regional Head Election which was held simultaneously on November 27 2024. A total of 848,648 of them cast votes that were declared valid and the remaining 32,364 cast invalid votes.

This is reported from the minutes document and certificate of recapitulation of the vote counting results for the 2024 Depok Mayor and Deputy Mayor Election which was signed by the Chairman of the Depok City KPU Willi Sumarlin and uploaded to the Depok Pilkada Pilwalkot Sirekap on the kpu.go.id page.

The city of Depok has been a support base for PKS for a long period of time. Because the candidate pairs for mayor and deputy mayor supported by PKS in Depok have almost always dominated regional head elections for the past 20 years.

Most recently, Mohammad Idris achieved the highest reins of power in Depok after being promoted by PKS in the 2015 Depok Regional Election. Idris himself is from non-party circles.

But now the PKS cadre himself, Imam Budi Hartono (Chair of the Prosperous Justice Party Regional Leadership Council for Depok City for the 2015 to 2020 period, former member of the West Java Provincial DPRD for the 2019-2020 period and Deputy Mayor of Depok for 2020-2024) has failed to continue the trend of his party’s dominance.

Imam and Ririn only managed to win in four sub-districts in Depok City, but lost in seven other sub-districts which held direct and simultaneous regional elections on 27 November.
