Profile of Adies Kadir, deputy chairman of the DPR 2024-2029
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Adies Kadir has entered the leadership ranks of the Indonesian People’s Representative Council (DPR) as deputy chairman for the 2024-2029 period.
Adies Kadir was elected from representatives of the Golkar Party Fraction to be one of the 5 leaders of the DPR RI for the 2024-2029 period, together with Sufmi Dasco Ahmad (Gerindra Party Faction), Saan Mustofa (NasDem Party Faction), Cucun Ahmad Syamsurizal PKB Faction (PKB) as deputy chairman and Puan Maharani (PDI Perjuangan Faction) as chairman of the DPR RI.
The DPR RI leaders were nominated by the political party holding the most seats.
Adies Kadir as deputy chairman of the DPR RI is tasked with overseeing the scope of the Coordinator for Economic and Financial Affairs which includes Commission XI, Commission XII, Commission XIII, the Budget Agency and the State Financial Accountability Agency.
Now, Adies Kadir also serves as Deputy General Chair of the Golkar Party DPP for the 2024-2029 period.
The man born in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, on October 17 1968, is not a new figure in the Indonesian DPR.
Adies Kadir previously served as Deputy Chair of Commission III DPR RI which handled the fields of law, human rights and security.
Adies Kadir has moved to Senayan to become a member of the DPR RI for the 2014-2019, 2019-2024 and 2024-2029 periods. Adies Kadir entered the world of politics by joining the Golongan Karya Party (Golkar).
Adies Kadir succeeded in passing to Senayan as a member of the DPR RI representing the electoral district (dapil) of East Java I which includes the cities of Surabaya and Sidoarjo.
In the 2014-2019 and 2019-2024 periods, Adies was assigned to Commission III. Then in the 2024-2029 period, he was appointed deputy chairman of the DPR RI from the Golkar Party faction.
Adies Kadir’s political career began when he was a member of the Surabaya DPRD in the 2009-2014 period. In the 2010 Surabaya Mayoral Election, Adies Kadir ran for deputy mayor of Surabaya paired with Arif Afandi who was supported by the Golkar Party and the Democratic Party. However, the couple has not been successful.
In the 2014-2019 period, Adies Kadir was elected as a member of the DPR RI Commission III which focuses on law, human rights and security. In April 2015, he was transferred to Commission IX of the DPR RI which oversees employment, population and health. However, in the first period of the 2015-2016 session, Adies returned to Commission III DPR RI.
In November 2015, Adies Kadir was transferred to become a Member of the Council’s Honorary Court (MKD) replacing Budi Supriyanto and in the following year he served as a member of the DPR RI Budget and Deliberative Body in 2016.
As a Golkar Party cadre, Adies Kadir has held a number of positions, including chairman of the DPD II of the Golkar Party for the city of Surabaya, chairman of the legal division of the Golkar Party DPP, deputy general chairman of the Golkar Party DPP for the 2024-2029 term, and was appointed as acting chairman of Golkar. Lampung Province.
Adies Kadir has a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at Wijaya Kusuma University, Surabaya (UWKS), graduating in 1993. Then, he returned to study a Bachelor’s degree in Law at Merdeka University, graduating in 2003 and a Master’s degree in Law at the same university in 2003-2007. and obtained a doctoral degree in Legal Studies at the University of 17 August 1945 (Untag) in 2011–2017.
