Profile of Andreas Eddy Susetyo, Chairman of BAKN DPR RI for the 2024-2029 period


Jakarta (ANTARA) – DPR member from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) faction, Andreas Eddy Susetyo, has been officially appointed as Chair of the State Financial Accountability Agency (BAKN) DPR RI for the 2024-2029 period.

This appointment was approved in a determination meeting chaired by the Deputy Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Coordinator for Economic and Financial Affairs, Adies Kadir, which took place at the Nusantara II Building, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (22/10).

In one of his main tasks, he will lead discussions related to the use of state finances, accompanied by four deputy chairs from various party factions, namely Golkar, PKS, Gerindra and Democrat.

BAKN DPR RI itself has a vital role in monitoring and evaluating the state budget, as well as providing recommendations regarding the use of public funds.

In his capacity as Chairman, Andreas is expected to be able to make BAKN more effective in overseeing state financial policy, as well as making a significant contribution to improving better financial governance in Indonesia.

So, what is Andreas Eddy Susetyo like? The following is a profile of the background to his career journey until he was trusted to become chairman of BAKN DPR RI.

Profile of Andreas Eddy Susetyo

Andreas Eddy Susetyo was born on March 22 1960, in Malang City, East Java. He is a professional who has a strong educational background. Andreas holds a bachelor’s degree from the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology and a master’s degree from the Prasetiya Mulya College of Management.

Before entering politics, Andreas was better known as a national banking expert because he had a deep understanding of financial governance. He is also active in various organizations, one of which was he was a member of SOKSI in 1984-1986 and a member of the KWI Crisis Center from 20001 to 2004.
Currently, Andreas also remains active in various organizations, including as a member of ASEAN Banker and Sawiran Credit Union Members.

His political career began when he joined PDIP in 2003, a party known for its commitment to people’s struggle and national development. Since joining PDIP, Andreas has been active in various party activities and is increasingly known as a leader who focuses on issues related to state finances.

Before joining politics, Andreas started his professional career as a director at PT Mitra Infokonsultas in 1987. Thanks to his extraordinary abilities and leadership, after leaving the company in 1994, he then served as director at two large Indonesian banks, namely Bank Niaga (1995 -2000) and Bank Mandiri (2000-2006).

Since leaving his job at the bank in 2006, Andreas has continued his career as a Senior Advisor at several financial institutions, including as a member of the Advisory Board at IBM New York.

In 2008, Andreas joined the Risk Monitoring Committee at PT Bank Central Asia (BCA) and worked there for six years. In 2014, he decided to leave Bank BCA. After achieving success in his banking career and considering the age factor, he then decided to focus on politics by running as a legislative candidate.

Until Andreas stepped forward and was elected as a member of the DPR-RI in Commission XI on October 1 2014 to represent the East Java V electoral district, which includes Malang, Malang City and Batu City.

Currently, Andreas is still actively serving as a member of the DPR RI. Armed with long experience and a deep understanding of financial management during his career, he was trusted to lead the State Financial Accountability Agency (BAKN) DPR RI for the 2024-2029 membership period.

As the new Chairman of BAKN DPR, Andreas is expected to increase BAKN’s role in overseeing state financial policies more effectively and contribute to improving financial governance in Indonesia.
