Called the poorest minister, this is Yusril Ihza Mahendra’s total wealth
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Yusril Ihza Mahendra, who currently serves as Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights (HAM), Immigration and Corrections, is considered a minister with mediocre wealth, and some sources even say he is the poorest minister.
This narrative emerged based on report data submitted to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) LHKPN on May 31 2007.
In the wealth report, the figure who wrote the manuscript of President Soeharto’s last speech only has total assets of IDR 1,623,362,911 and only has land and building assets worth IDR 20,310,000.
Meanwhile, other assets owned by Yusril include private transportation to the plantation sector. Yusril is also said to have often given away his personal property, such as a plot of land, which depreciated the value of his assets.

The following are the latest details of Yusril’s recorded assets:
Land and buildings
Yusril admitted that he owns a plot of land in Belitung Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands, with an area of 1,354 square meters. This land, which came from the results of his own business, has a value of IDR 20,310,000.
There are no other buildings recorded as his, this land is the only immovable property that Yusril recognizes in his wealth report.
Transportation equipment and other machines
In this category, Yusril owns two units of transportation equipment with a total value of IDR 105,000,000. The details:
- An antique NSU brand motorbike produced in 1958, which was obtained from a grant in 1972, with a value of IDR 5,000,000.
- The Volvo car he bought from his own money in 2006 was worth IDR 100,000,000.
Livestock, fisheries, plantations, agriculture, forestry, mining and other business sectors
Yusril also manages two plantations with a total area of around 6.7 hectares consisting of:
- A plot of plantation land covering an area of 2.7 hectares acquired in 1999, with a value of IDR 54,000,000.
- Another plot of land measuring 4 hectares was acquired in 1998, with a value of IDR 40,000,000.
The total value of this property reaches IDR 94,000,000.
Other movable assets
In this category, Yusril recorded various other movable assets worth IDR 1,328,677,000. These assets include art, antiques, precious metals and precious stones collected since 1984. These assets are one of the largest components in his wealth report.
Cash and cash equivalents
Yusril recorded a current account balance and other cash equivalents with a total value of IDR 75,375,911.
Debt
No debt was reported in Yusril’s latest LHKPN.
Total wealth
With details of his existing assets, Yusril’s total wealth reaches IDR 1,623,362,911. This amount puts him in a unique position as one of the ministers with the least wealth compared to other ministers in the Red and White Cabinet for the 2024–2029 period.
Even though he is known as a legal expert and experienced politician, Yusril’s wealth is relatively low compared to several other high-ranking officials.
The nickname “poorest minister” in the Red and White Cabinet seems to reflect Yusril’s life choice which is more focused on service than the accumulation of personal wealth.
However, so far there has been no latest wealth report that can be accessed from Yusril Ihza Mahendra. The written wealth value is the result of a report 17 years ago or the location is on May 31 2007.
