DKI Jakarta KPU: Duties, functions and membership
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The DKI Jakarta General Election Commission (KPU) is an independent institution that organizes general elections in the province of DKI Jakarta, Indonesia.
As part of the national KPU structure, the Jakarta KPU plays an important role in organizing, supervising and ensuring the implementation of elections at the provincial level, including presidential, legislative, regional head elections and other types of elections.
Duties and Functions of the DKI Jakarta KPU
Based on Article 15 and Article 16 of Law Number & Year 2017 concerning General Elections, the Jakarta KPU has various responsibilities which include election preparation, voter registration, campaign supervision, and handling disputes.
Some of the main functions carried out by the DKI Jakarta KPU include the following:
1. Election preparation
The DKI Jakarta KPU made various preparations for a smooth election, starting from procurement of logistics, recruiting officers, to making and distributing ballot papers.
2. Voter registration
The DKI Jakarta KPU carries out registration and verification of voter data, ensuring that all eligible voters can participate.
3. Campaign monitoring
The KPU supervises campaign activities so that they run according to applicable regulations, ensuring that prospective participants comply with the provisions that have been set.
4. Determination of the Permanent Voter List (DPT)
Based on the registration results, the DKI Jakarta KPU determines the Permanent Voter List, or DPT, which is the basis for official voters in the election process.
5. Determination of potential election participants
The KPU plays a role in determining candidate participants, both for regional head and legislative elections, after fulfilling the necessary requirements.
6. Vote counting
After the election, the DKI Jakarta KPU is tasked with counting the votes and announcing the results transparently to the public.
7. Dispute handling
If a dispute arises regarding the election results or process, the DKI Jakarta KPU has the authority to handle and resolve the dispute in accordance with applicable regulations.
8. Reporting and coordination
The DKI Jakarta KPU coordinates with the central KPU and related institutions in implementing general elections, including compiling reports and sharing data as needed.
DKI Jakarta KPU membership structure
The KPU in each province, including the DKI Jakarta KPU, consists of a chairman who also acts as a member and six other members.
The term of office of Provincial KPU members lasts for five years and can be re-elected for another period at the same level.

Wahyu Dinata
Wahyu Dinata studied at undergraduate level at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Jakarta.
He started his career as an election observer in 2003 in Central Jakarta. Apart from being active as an election observer and organization since he was a student, Wahyu Dinata also has a number of written works and publications in the field of elections.

Astri Megatari
Before entering the electoral field, Astri Megatari was a reporter and TV presenter. The woman who was born in Jakarta, July 10 1986, then continued her career as a Media and Communications Expert for the Ministry of Home Affairs from 2016-2023.
Currently Astri Megatari serves as Member of the DKI Jakarta Provincial General Election Commission for the 2023-2028 Period and is Head of the Socialization, Voter Education, Participation and Public Relations Division.
Nelvia Gustina
This woman, who is familiarly called Nelvi, started her career as an Assistant Lecturer at the Bogor Agricultural Institute and was trusted to serve as Deputy Chair of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Information Commission in 2020-2023.
Currently, Nelvi serves as a Member of the DKI Jakarta Provincial General Election Commission for the 2023-2028 Period, leading the Planning, General and Logistics Division.
Fahmi Zikrillah
With a background as a teacher, Fahmi Zikrillah started his electoral career by becoming a member of the South Jakarta City General Election Commission in the 2018-2023 period.
A bachelor’s degree graduate from the National University of Jakarta and currently pursuing a postgraduate degree at the Paramadina Graduate School of Diplomacy, he is currently appointed as Head of the Data and Information Division at the DKI Jakarta Provincial General Election Commission.
Muhammad Tarmizi
The world of elections is no longer foreign to Muhammad Tarmizi or familiarly called Aji. Starting a career in the electoral field
as a Bawaslu Expert, he currently serves as Head of the Human Resources, Research and Development Division at the DKI Jakarta Provincial General Election Commission.
Irwan Supriadi Rambe
Before becoming a member of the DKI Jakarta Province KPU, Irwan Supriadi Rambe was a member of the DKI Jakarta Province Bawaslu.
With this experience, the man who was born in Binjai, December 3 1981 is trusted to be the Head of the Legal and Supervision Division at the DKI Jakarta Provincial KPU.
Doddy Wijaya
Dody Wijaya completed his BA in Political Science at FISIP, Muhammadiyah University, Jakarta and is currently completing his Masters in Political Science at the University of Indonesia.
In 2018 he became a Member of the South Jakarta City KPU in charge of the Technical Division for Election Administration with the achievement “Zero PSU” (Revote).
Doddy is also active in writing about elections in a number of national media, he also wrote the book “The Irony of Simultaneous Elections: Dynamics of Strengthening the Multiparty Presidential System through the 2019 Simultaneous Elections in Indonesia.”
