List of ministers and deputy ministers who graduated from Military Academy in the Red and White Cabinet
Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto has appointed all the ministers and deputy ministers of the Red and White Cabinet who will assist him in governing the next five years. It is known that of the many names, some of them have a military background and come from the Military Academy or Akmil.

1. Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono – Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development.
The first son of the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, graduated from the Military Academy in 2000, he even received the title of best graduate and won the Adhi Makayasa award and the Trisakti Wiratama Sword. Most recently, AHY succeeded in obtaining a Doctoral degree from Airlangga University.
AHY’s career journey since graduating from Military Academy has held important positions, starting from Platoon Commander in the 305/Tengkorak Airborne Infantry Battalion in the Security Restoration Operation in Aceh to being assigned as Commander of the 203 Arya Kemuning Mechanized Infantry Battalion. Danyon is the last position of officer in this infantry corps, with the final rank being major.
After leaving his military career due to early retirement, AHY then entered the world of politics when he was asked to become a Candidate for Governor of DKI Jakarta in the General Election for Governor of DKI Jakarta in 2017. After that AHY was elected as General Chair of the Democratic Party for the 2020-2025 period. AHY also founded The Yudhoyono Institute
2. Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin – Minister of Defense
Growing up in a military family environment, Sjafrie followed in his family’s footsteps. He entered the Military Academy and graduated in 1974.
His military career began with a position as Platoon Commander (Danton) in Group I Special Forces Command (Kopassus) from 1975 to 1977. From there, his career continued to develop rapidly, including becoming Commander of Company (Danki) II Group I Kopassus in 1977-1980 and Intelligence Officer in Group I in 1980-1981.
Confidence in his abilities grew stronger when he was appointed Deputy Assistant Operations Commander of Kopassus in 1991-1993.
3. Sugiono – Minister of Foreign Affairs
Sugiono, who was born in Takengon, Aceh, on February 11 1979, is an alumnus of Taruna Nusantara High School who graduated in 1997. He is in the same class as Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono who is now the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development.
Once he completed his education there, he continued his studies at a military college in the United States through a scholarship launched by the Danjen Kopassus at that time, Major General TNI Prabowo Subianto.
He then attended officer candidate training at the Magelang Military Academy and graduated with the rank of Second Lieutenant in the infantry corps.
4. Iftitah Sulaiman – Minister of Transmigration
Iftitah was the best graduate of the Military Academy in 1999 and received Adhi Makayasa.
During his time as a TNI AD soldier, Iftitah served a lot on the battlefield.
He was part of Operation Rencong (2003) and Operation Restoration of Security (2004).
Iftitah has also served in various missions, including as a peacekeeper in Lebanon in 2006, as well as being the TNI’s first international instructor in Australia, where he trained dozens of officers.
5. Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus – Deputy Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs
Golkar politician, Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus, is a retired TNI AD. He graduated from Military Academy in 1981, in the same class as former TNI Commander General (Ret.) H Moeldoko.
Lodewijk held a number of strategic positions while he was a TNI soldier. The peak of Lodewijk’s military career occurred when he was appointed Commander General of the Special Forces Command in 2009, replacing Pramono Edhie Wibowo. This position was officially handed over to Paulus in a ceremony held at the Kopassus Command Headquarters on December 4 2009.
Paulus’ rank was then promoted to major general two weeks after the handover. He served until 15 September 2011 before being replaced by Vishnu Bawa Tenaya.
This position is proof of the trust given to him by the leadership of the TNI and the state for his dedication and competence.
After that, he was appointed as Commander of the Regional Military Command (Kodam) I/Bukit Barisan in 2011, he also played an important role in securing the 2012 National Sports Week (PON) which took place in Riau.
His good performance in this task then led to his promotion to the position of Commander of the Army Education and Training Doctrine Development Command (Dankodiklat AD) in 2013. In this position, he was also entrusted with leading security for the 2013 APEC High Level Conference (Summit).
Lodewijk ended his military service on July 25 2015, after retiring from the TNI.
6. Ossy Dermawan – Deputy Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning-National Land Agency
Ossy Dermawan is known to have studied at Padjadjaran University, before finally taking part in the Military Academy selection and undergraduate scholarship program from Norwich University, Military School of Vermont in the US.
At Norwich University, Ossy earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a dual degree, Business Administration and Computer Information Systems.
During his career in the Indonesian Army, Ossy participated in a number of military operations, including the UN Peace Operation, the Garuda XXIII A/UNIFIL Contingent in Lebanon in 2006-2007.
That is a list of six ministers and deputy ministers of the Red and White Cabinet who have a military background, especially those who have studied at the Military Academy or Akmil.
Akmil itself is a higher education institution that specializes in producing TNI Army officers.
Located in Magelang City, Central Java, Akmil plays an important role in forming a new generation of officers who are committed to national defense.
Standing in a place surrounded by mountains, Akmil has a supportive atmosphere for the learning process and hard training that must be gone through by cadets and cadets studying there.
