Track record of Hasan Nasbi, Head of the Presidential Communications Office


Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto officially appointed Hasan Nasbi to continue serving as Head of the Presidential Communications Office or Presidential Communications Office (PCO).

This decision was taken when Prabowo announced the names of 48 ministers and five heads of Red and White Cabinet institutions at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Sunday (20/10).

The Presidential Communications Office is included in the institutions that are not under the coordination of the coordinating minister, along with the attorney general, head of BIN, presidential chief of staff and cabinet secretary.

This institution was formed to realize the effectiveness of implementing the President’s strategic communications and information in a synergistic and integrated manner.

Hasan Nasbi was previously appointed by the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo on 19 August 2024 through the issuance of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 82 of 2024 concerning the Presidential Communications Office.

In this Presidential Decree, it is explained that the main function of the Presidential Communications Office is the implementation of analysis of strategic and political issues or actual information regarding the President’s priority program policies.

Then implement information dissemination and strategic policy communication media for the President’s priority programs. As well as, coordination and synchronization of information between ministries or institutions related to the policies that will be implemented.

The inauguration of Hasan Nasbi by President Prabowo Subianto was carried out on Monday (21/10) at 10.00 WIB, along with ministers and heads of other institutions

Hasan Nasbi’s profile

Hasan Nasbi was born in Bukittinggi on 11 October 1979, is a political consultant from Indonesia who currently holds an important position as Head of Presidential Communication Office (PCO) or i Head of the Presidential Communications Office since 19 August 2024.

Hasan has a long background and experience in the media and research sectors. From 2005 to 2006, he worked as a journalist for Kompas Daily and was a researcher at the Center for Political Studies, University of Indonesia until 2008.

After that, Hasan founded a survey institution called Cyrus Network which is often a survey institution in recapitulation or quick calculations in the Presidential Election, including the 2024 Presidential Election.

Hasan received his senior secondary education at SMAN 2 Bukittinggi then continued his higher education at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Indonesia (FISIP UI) and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 2004.

While still a student, Hasan was known as someone who was active in organizations, he served as Chair of the Islamic Student Association (HMI) UI Commissariat in 2000 which also introduced him to the world of politics.

He is one of the founders of the Tan Malaka Research and Community Service Institute which was founded in June 2002, as well as being the secretary of Dr. Harry Albert Poeze, researcher Tan Malaka.

In October 2004, he became one of the editors of Bulletin Madilog: Community Learning Media which was only published 3 times and circulated on the University of Indonesia campus. He also wrote books State Philosophy According to Tan Malaka (2004) and is one of the book authors Inheriting Tan Malaka’s ideas (2006).

In his political activities, he was the Coordinator of the Joko Widodo–Basuki Tjahaja Purnama Volunteer Team for the general election for Governor of DKI Jakarta in 2012.

This moment made Hasan Nasbi have a close relationship with Jokowi afterwards.

Hasan Nasbi then officially served as Head of the Presidential Communications Office on August 19 2024. The Presidential Communications Office is an institution newly formed by President Jokowi last August through Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 82 of 2024 concerning the establishment of the Presidential Communications Office.

In this position, Hasan has a crucial role in maintaining effective communication between the government and society under the leadership of Prabowo Subianto.
