Profile of Yovie Widianto, musician who is a candidate for Presidential Staff


Jakarta (ANTARA) – Musician Yovie Widianto is expected to get a position in Prabowo Subianto’s government because he is one of the people called by the President-Elect.

Yovie Widianto came to Kertanegara, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (15/10).

After the meeting, Yovie Widianto revealed that he was not assigned as a candidate for deputy minister or candidate for agency head in the Prabowo-Gibran government. However, he said that the meeting discussed “staff attached to the president” which gave rise to suspicions that Yovie would become special staff (stafsus)

“I only gave input to the President. “His job will be to provide input on how this creative industry works, what the strategy is, etc.,” said Yovie.

Yovie Widianto’s profile

Yovie Widianto has long been known as a multitalented musician. The man born in Bandung, West Java, January 21 1968, is one of the founders of the veteran music group Kahitna and fills the position of piano/keyboard.

Since childhood, Yovie Widianto has been close to the world of music thanks to his family, especially his father, who really liked music. At the age of 5, Yovie Widianto was introduced to jazz music through his uncle Hasbullah Ridwan, a senior Indonesian composer and musician.

In pursuing a career in the world of music, Yovie spent his teenage years writing songs, forming bands, and appearing at many music festivals, both national and international.

Yovie Widianto’s musical career took off after the band Kahitna, which was formed on June 24 1986, released its first album entitled “Cerita Cinta” in 1994.

Until now, Yovie is one of the musicians who still makes music, producing songs, collaborating with talented young musicians, and appearing at various music events and large concerts.

Yovie Widianto has received many awards at prestigious events, making him a respected figure as a musician. Yovie was an audition judge for the 2nd season of Indonesian Idol and joined the management of the Federation of Indonesian Musicians’ Unions (FESMI).

In terms of education, Yovie Widianto studied International Relations at Padjadjaran University and graduated cum laude.
