Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri, Golkar politician, youngest candidate for deputy minister


Jakarta (ANTARA) – Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri, a politician from the Golkar Party, was also present at the residence of the elected president, Prabowo Subianto, on Tuesday (15/10) afternoon.

His presence was an important moment in a series of meetings with political figures ahead of the formation of the new cabinet.

Dyah Roro openly stated that Prabowo Subianto supported him to become deputy minister. However, when asked about the field he would be responsible for, Dyah chose not to provide further information.

Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri is known to have served as a member of the DPR RI for the 2019-2024 period and was among the 10 youngest members of the DPR at that time, when she was only 26 years old.

Born on May 25 1993 in Jakarta, she is the daughter of Satya Widya Yudha and Diah Ambarsari. Satya Widya Yudha is a Golkar Party politician who served as a member of the DPR RI for two terms from 2009 to 2019.

Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri is an environmental expert and activist who has an international university education background.

He is a recipient of a full LPDP PK-41 scholarship from the Indonesian Ministry of Finance and succeeded in obtaining an MSc in Environmental Technology with a focus on Pollution Management from Imperial College London.

Additionally, he also has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Sociology from the University of Manchester, and has completed postgraduate coursework at Harvard University.

After graduating, Dyah together with his younger brother Satya Hangga Yudha founded the Indonesian Energy and Environmental Institute (IE2I).

IE2I is an institution dedicated to increasing public awareness of the negative impacts of climate change and global warming. The IE2I Institute is based in Jakarta. Dyah Roro Esti served as Executive Director of IE2I during the 2016-2019 period.

After that, he began to enter the world of politics by joining the Golkar Party. Dyah then ran as a legislative candidate for the DPR in the East Java X electoral district which covers the Gresik and Lamongan districts.

In this election, Dyah Roro Esti succeeded in achieving victory which took her to Senayan as a member of the Indonesian DPR for the 2019-2024 period.

Throughout his career, Dyah Roro Esti has served as Deputy Chair of the Advisory Board of the Indonesian Renewable Energy Society (METI) in 2022, Chair of the Peru-Indonesia GKSB and General Treasurer of the Mutual Cooperation Family Conference (MKGR). He is also active as Deputy General Treasurer of the Golkar Party DPP.

In 2024, Dyah Roro Esti was invited to be one of the speakers at the IMF-World Bank meeting held in Washington DC, United States.

During the event, he expressed his views on the importance of developing the green economic sector.

In the same year, Dyah Roro Esti received the MKD Award from the Council of Honor Court (MKD), an award given to council members who are considered to have high ethics in carrying out their duties and functions and in voicing the aspirations of the community.
