Profile of Ahmad Muzani, Chairman of the Indonesian MPR for the 2024-2029 period


Jakarta (ANTARA) – Ahmad Muzani was officially appointed as Chair of the Indonesian MPR for the 2024-2029 period on Thursday, October 3 2024, at the MPR’s III Plenary Session which took place at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta.

As the new Chairman of the MPR, Ahmad Muzani will lead together with eight Deputy Chairmen representing DPD factions and groups in the MPR.

Ahmad Muzani has had a very long career in politics. Born in Tegal on July 15 1968, Ahmad Muzani, who is now 56 years old, has devoted his life to the world of politics and government for more than a decade.

He received primary to secondary education in the Tegal area. He took his basic education at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Islamiyah (1975-1981), continued to SMP Ikhsaniyah (1981-1984) and completed his secondary education at SMEA Negeri Tegal in 1987. At the tertiary level, he obtained a degree in Communication Science from Ibnu Khaldun University , which was taken from 1989 to 2009.

Not someone who has just entered national politics, Ahmad Muzani started his political career as a Member of the DPR/MPR in 2009.

Since then, he has continued to strengthen his position as an important figure in the DPR and the Gerindra Party.

Among the strategic positions he has held, Ahmad Muzani was Chairman of the DPR’s State Financial Accountability Agency (BAKN) in the 2009-2012 period and served as Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Party Fraction in the same period.

In 2010, he was also involved in the Century Bank Special Committee (Pansus) in the DPR.

Since 2012, he has served as Chairman of the Gerindra Party Fraction in the DPR, and during the 2015-2020 period, he was Secretary General of the Gerindra Party. From 2019 to 2024, Ahmad Muzani served as Deputy Chair of the Indonesian MPR.

Vision and mission

As the new Chairman of the MPR, Ahmad Muzani carries out the task of leading with a focus on maintaining national unity and maintaining the implementation of the constitution.

The vision and mission he carries are to create an independent, sovereign and prosperous Indonesia, as well as fighting for the interests of the people and nation while maintaining the values ​​of Pancasila and the norms that apply in society.
